As indicated in the IFCHA Mission statement and the Organizational Framework of Activities, IFCHA Chapters will not create new programmes, but will rather contribute to existing Community Health Services, Public, Private or Voluntary, building local capacity through the interrelated interventions, especially:
EXPERTISE
Continuing education of local personnel
Supportive supervisions leading to management improvements.
Operational research – finding solutions to obstacles.
INFRASTRUCTURES / TECHNOLOGIES
Maintenance / renewal of buildings
Maintenance / renewal of equipments
Provision of affordable technologies
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Monitoring and documentation of activities
Evaluation of impact of achievements
Feedback followed by corrective action
The above framework would be useful in organizing interventions that will promote community empowerment, accountability in management, strengthening partnerships (community, government and donors), a mechanism for increasing Africa 's participation in resolving the current health crisis, alleviation of poverty and attainment of millennium development goals.
Contributors to community health services may find useful / appropriate schemas for a holistic and effective partnership with collaborating communities. The African Diaspora is cordially invited to these proposals highlighted on the IFCHA Web site; focusing if they wish on local / district health systems of their choice.
