The International Forum on Community Health in Africa held its Constituent Assembly at the International Dialogue Centre in Mahele – Kribi, Cameroon from the 26 th - 28 th April 2007; as a follow up of the decision recently arrived at the International Conference on Community Health in Africa, held in Addis Ababa from the 20 th -22 November, 2006, and organized by WHO, the World Bank, Joint UNAIDS and UNICEF.
During the meeting participants examined the main theme which was: “Overcoming Africa's Health Crisis”- The Problematic, The Proposed Response and The Implementation of Activities. Participants also scrutinized the Draft Constitution and the Proposed Internal Rules for the Forum. Participants decided to equally revive the Cameroon Health Association, CAMSANTE.
Opened by the SDO for the Ocean Division, the meeting had as guest the WHO Representative for Cameroon in the person of Dr Mambu ma Disu representing Dr Louis G Sambo WHO Africa Regional Director; Dr Monono Ekeke, Director of Medical Care Delivery and Health Technologies at the Ministry of Public Health representing Cameroon 's Minister of Public Health, Olanguena Awono. Also present were members of the Addis Ababa Group who were asked to work towards the holding of this meeting.
Prominent among them were Professor G. L. Monekosso who served as the Adviser in the Addis Meeting and Drs Eyong Efobi and Akono Emane who were the rapporteurs.
Four speeches were delivered during this meeting. They were presented by Professor Monekosso, President of the Global Health Dialogue Foundation; the WHO Representative for Cameroon , Dr Mambu; the MPH's Representative, Dr Monono Ekeke and the SDO for the Ocean Division.
The meeting had some 30 participants who ranged from senior staff of the Ministry of Public Health, the Donor Community, University Lecturers, Non Governmental Organizations and the Cameroon Development Corporation- CDC.
At the end of the meeting a Task Force was put in place with Dr Monono Ekeke as Chairman. The Overall Objective of this group was the Organization of the Forum. It had as specific objectives:
- To come up with a date ( March 2008 was slated for the General Assembly)
- To accelerate the process for legalization of the Forum
- To elaborate a Concept Paper for IFCHA
- To complete the finishing touches of IFCHA H/Q before the G. Assembly

- Monitoring /Follow up of Activities
The Task Force comprises of three teams from three different pools.

IFCHA CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY
At the end of the Constituent Assembly of IFCHA, the following resolutions were arrived at:
Resolution 1: That the International Forum for Community Health will be organized in Cameroon in March 2008.
Resolution 2: The assembly put in place a working group composed of 17 persons and presided over by Dr. Ekeke Monono Martin. The group is divided into three pools- Yaounde , Douala and Limbe.
Resolution 3: The assembly charged the working group to organize the International Forum for Community Health in Africa which will hold in the month of March 2008.
Resolution 4: The assembly gave a go-ahead to the group to accelerate the legalization process of the Forum.
Resolution 5: The assembly agreed that each group meets during the last week of each month. The first joint meeting of the working group will take place on the 15 th June 2007 at Douala . The second will hold on the 31 st August 2007.
Resolution 6: While waiting for the legalization of IFCHA and the holding of the General Assembly in March 2008, Global Health Dialogue Foundation will remain in charge of the project.
Resolution 7: The assembly elaborated a timeframe of activities to be carried until the holding of the Forum. Resolution 8: The assembly authorized the working group to carry out information campaigns to institutions in Cameroon and Abroad. Resolution 9: The assembly decided to make consultations in view of the revival of the Cameroon Health Association – CAMSANTE
